Salary Range: $145,401 – $152,543 per annum pending experience
Commencing Date: January 2025
Tenure: Full Time, Fixed Term Contract
Closing Date: Monday, 20 September 2024 unless filled prior

St Francis Catholic Primary School, Ayr is a Catholic co-educational school located in the town of Ayr in the Burdekin region. The school has 295 students from Prep to Year 6. About the role

St Francis Catholic Primary School, Ayr is seeking an experienced and dedicated Assistant Principal – Religious Education. This position is a permanent teaching role with a Full Time, 5 Year Fixed Term appointment to the Assistant Principal – Religious Education.

The Assistant Principal – Religious Education (APRE) provides effective professional leadership by developing and nurturing the Catholic tradition and Religious Life of the School and the coordination of Religious Education. 

The purpose of the APRE is to exercise leadership and assist with the management of the school in accordance with Catholic Education policies and in consultation with other personnel as appropriate and with due reference to Catholic Education structures, processes and practices. The APRE is responsible for the supervision of those areas as delegated by the Principal and as designated in his/her duty statement which should be reviewed annually.

  • Builds an inclusive, trusting community and cultivates productive working relationships
  • Is an effective coach, able to respond clearly and provide and receive constructive feedback.

Mandatory Criteria

  • Ability to perform the physical requirements of the role in a safe manner
  • Appropriate Tertiary qualification with registration or eligibility for registration with Queensland College of Teachers
  • A minimum of 8 semester units of post graduate study in Religious Education, Scripture, Theology, Catholic Ethos and/or currently undertaking, with a commitment to completion
  • Full accreditation to teach Religious Education in a Catholic school
  • Is committed to the Catholic faith, an active member of a Catholic Eucharistic community and is free from any impediment to full communion with the church
  • Current Driver’s Licence
  • Ability to travel from time to time within the Catholic Diocese of Townsville

Desirable Criteria

  • Masters or other postgraduate qualification in Theology, Religious Education or Educational Leadership
  • Recent leadership experience in a Catholic School with the ability to lead the drive for educational excellence
  • Can show evidence of educational, pastoral, theological and managerial aspects of school leadership.
