Position: Assistant Principal: Religious Education
Start date: January 2027
Employment Status: Full-Time (5 year Contract)
Salary: $149,764 to $157,118 (pending experience) + 12.75% superannuation

What we are looking for:
Applications are invited for the position of Assistant Principal: Religious Education (APRE) to join the leadership team at St Brendan’s Catholic Primary School, Mackay.
This full-time position, commencing in January 2027, offers an opportunity to contribute meaningfully to the spiritual and educational life of the school community.
The successful applicant will have a deep commitment to providing quality Catholic education, participate in the life of the parish, and have appropriate teaching experience, academic qualifications and leadership qualities.
The APRE plays a vital role in supporting the Principal in enhancing the Catholic identity of the school. This includes fostering the religious life of the school, and ensuring the effective teaching of Religion in accordance with the policies and practices of Catholic Education – Diocese of Rockhampton.

- Enhancing Catholic Ethos and Identity: Fostering the religious life of the school through Christian witness, active participation in a parish, promotion of Gospel values and the provision of quality religious education.
- Leading Teaching and Learning: Ability to develop and implement high quality learning and teaching programs.
- Developing self and others: Supporting others and building capacity with a focus on continuous improvement of teaching and learning.
- Leading improvement, innovation and change: Aligning strategic goals and initiatives with the vision and mission of the school and School Review and Improvement Processes.
- Engaging and working with the community: Ability to foster and develop appropriate relationships with school staff, students, parents, clergy, parishioners and the wider community.

We are seeking to appoint a leader who
- is a practising Catholic with a sound understanding of, and commitment to Catholic education
- can foster a culture of inspirational teaching and learning and lead the development and implementation of school improvement initiatives
- has the interpersonal skills to build partnerships within the school, with the parish and with the local community
- is willing to provide leadership in areas delegated by the Principal in the APRE duty statement, and can lead in ways that are consistent with
- the message of Jesus and the Gospels
- Catholic church teachings, principles and values
- Diocesan policies and directives
- The Catholic Education Diocese of Rockhampton Charter
- Catholic Education Mission and Vision Statements, policies, practices and strategic directions.

Mandatory Requirements
- Relevant tertiary qualifications and the ability to obtain approved Queensland College of Teachers Registration
