About Us
St Vincent’s College (College) is an independent day and boarding school offering a contemporary Catholic Education for girls in Years 7-12. Founded by the Sisters of Charity in 1858, and now under the stewardship of Mary Aikenhead Ministries, we are a dynamic learning community, cherishing our Catholic heritage and fostering creativity, courage, discernment and leadership in young women.
The College is seeking an seasoned accounting or finance professional to fulfill this pivotal role in the life of this community, and to work closely with the Principal in the overall business administration of St Vincent’s College as a leading Catholic Secondary Boarding and Day school for girls.
About the Role
Reporting to the College Principal, and as a key member of the Leadership Team, the Business Manager is responsible for the financial management of the College and is also the Company Secretary and Public Officer. In collaboration with the Principal, and leading a small team, the Business Manager has responsibility for the College’s financial and business operations, maintenance of plant and grounds, management of construction and maintenance projects, and the supervision of support staff.
As Company Secretary, you will ensure compliance with relevant legislation, the constitution of St Vincent’s College Ltd, and applicable policies and procedures of Mary Aikenhead Education Limited. You will also have responsibility for managing the financial accounting for St Vincent’s College Foundation Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of St Vincent’s College Ltd.
Working closely with the College’s Property Manager, the Business Manager coordinates processes related to new construction or refurbishments and manages contractual arrangements with service suppliers, including the organising of tenders and leading contract negotiations.
As an executive leader, the Business Manager upholds the vision and mission of the College by contributing to its strategic direction, working collaboratively with the Leadership Team to develop and implement strategic outcomes and sharing in the responsibility of the pastoral care of staff.
This position is a full-time role and based at Potts Point.
Key Requirements
The Business Manager will ideally possess the following knowledge, experience, qualifications and skills:
- An appreciation for, and a demonstrated alignment with, the vision, mission and values of St Vincent’s College.
- Experience working hands-on in accounting or financial management, risk and compliance in a not-for-profit, education or corporate environment.
- Strong financial acumen and business management skills at a strategic and operational level.
- Tertiary qualifications in a business-related discipline (e.g. Accounting, Finance, Business Administration). CPA or CA is desirable but not essential.
- Strong computer literacy specifically in relation to accounting software processes and systems.
- Experience and demonstrated ability to work closely with boards, committees and other stakeholders.
- A strong customer service attitude with a commitment to excellence and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Have a very relational approach in all matters pertaining to the College’s operations and the education of students.
