What does the role involve?   

Reporting to the Community Partnerships Manager, this role plays a key role in animating the Catholic Earthcare program across Australia. You will bring integral ecology to life through formation, events and community engagement, while cultivating strong relationships with parishes, schools, ministries and partners. 

Key responsibilities will include (but not limited to): 

  • Lead the delivery of the Catholic Earthcare Engagement Strategy across schools, parishes, youth groups and community organisations through innovative formation programs, webinars and events. 
  • Design and facilitate inspiring learning experiences, including presentations, professional development, youth summits, retreats and workshops that deepen understanding and commitment to integral ecology. 
  • Build and nurture strong partnerships with Catholic entities and networks.  
  • Represent Caritas Australia as a trusted voice in integral ecology, contributing to publications, media, and speaking engagements nationally and internationally. 

This role is based in our Mascot or East Melbourne office and will work a hybrid model, including one or two days in the office per week.   

Who are we looking for?   

The successful candidate will have a deep commitment to Caritas Australia’s mission to end poverty and injustice by promoting human dignity for all, as well as a dedication to the principles of Catholic Social Teaching that guide our global efforts. They will have a mix of the following qualifications, skills and experience:    

  • Tertiary qualification/s in Education, Theology/Religious Education, Environment, Community Engagement or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience. 
  • Proven expertise in facilitation and public engagement, with 5+ years’ experience delivering presentations, workshops and formation for diverse audiences across Catholic schools, parishes, communities and leadership groups. 
  • Demonstrated ability to design and implement impactful engagement strategies including online, hybrid and inperson experiences. 
  • Deep understanding of Catholic Social Teaching, Laudato Si’ and integral ecology, with the capacity to communicate Church teaching in an accessible, engaging and pastoral way. 
  • A collaborative, relationship-driven communicator with strong digital capability, a can-do attitude, and the confidence to inspire, influence and energise communities.
