Join our team as a Communications Officer

We’re looking for a dynamic Communications Officer to:

  • bring the richness of the Catholic faith to life through engaging articles for Melbourne Catholic e-news, social media and beyond
  • develop communications strategies to support the many and varied campaigns and projects of the Archdiocese.

💡 The role

  • Develop story ideas and write articles that resonate with our diverse community– with a particular focus on the weekly e-news published by the Archdiocese.
  • Shape content strategy across platforms—website, e-news, videos, social media.
  • Develop communications strategies for a range of Archdiocesan projects and campaigns.
  • Collaborate with a supportive, passionate, award-winning team in a fast-paced environment.

About you

You’re a gifted strategist and creative wordsmith and storyteller with 3–5 years of experience and a knack for producing content that inspires and engages. Your deep understanding of Catholic values and the Church enables you to deftly navigate nuance, spot issues and, from ideation to publication, deliver strategic and engaging content to achieve desired outcomes. As well as excellent written communication and strategic skills, you have proven relationship-building skills, are well-connected, possess gravitas and are able to quickly and easily establish rapport with stakeholders and interviewees.

You thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume, collaborative environment and love juggling a wide variety of projects with tight deadlines.

Ideally you will have tertiary qualifications in journalism, professional writing, marketing, PR or communications and your communication management expertise will be reflected in your certification as a Communication Management Professional (CMP) or Strategic Communication Management Professional (SCMP).
