posted 2 days ago in Mission , in Social ServicesJob Description
About Us
The Emerging Futures Collaborative Limited (EFCL) is an innovative ministry established by a collaborative of Catholic Religious Institutes in Australia, to address an emerging need in religious life for transition and support services. The Presentation Sisters Wagga Wagga is one of EFCL’s Service Partners.
The Wagga Wagga Congregation is comprised of 17 Sisters with differing living arrangements in Wagga Wagga and surrounds. As part of its responsibility to provide support services to the Presentation Sisters Wagga Wagga, EFCL seeks to engage a Community Coordinator.
About the Role
Reporting to the EFCL Shared Services Manager and working closely with the Health and Wellbeing Coordinator, Health & Wellbeing Support Officer and Administration and Accounting Assistant, you will walk in relationship with the Sisters, offering accompaniment and pastoral care and support, with kindness and compassion.
You will play a vital role in supporting the Sisters both as a community and individually, ensuring each Sister has the opportunity to live a valued and meaningful life as she ages. You will facilitate access to spiritual experiences and practices according to each Sister’s preferences.
Using your exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, you will develop and maintain positive relationships with each Sister, advocate on her behalf as required, and assist the Sisters in maintaining connections with their family, friends and broader networks, including past ministry and works. You will support the celebration of important community and individual events such as birthdays and jubilees.
Ensuring confidentiality and discretion, you will manage each Sister’s personal documents, including legal and financial documents, and ensure the proper appointment, coordination, documentation and recording of each Sister’s nominated representatives.
This role is a permanent part-time role, ideally to be worked Monday to Friday, 5.5 hours a day. An alternative working arrangement may be considered for a stand-out candidate. Flexibility is required to be available to attend occasional after-hours emergencies. There may be an opportunity to work from home when not undertaking direct contact work with the Sisters.
About You
Your sensitivity to the needs and cultural context of religious Sisters, and personal desire to support the elderly to live meaningful lives, is key to this role. Just as important is your willingness to support the mission and ethos of the Congregation.
Specifically, as the ideal candidate for this role, you will meet the following Key Requirements:
- Relevant qualifications in pastoral care, social work or a related field; and knowledge and understanding of spiritual care practices and diverse spiritual needs
- Proven experience in providing care, support and coordination within a community or religious setting
- Familiarity with legal and administrative requirements related to aged care, power of attorney and guardianship
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and demonstrated ability to create respectful relationships with the Sisters and others, advocate on their behalf, and to collaborate with and influence stakeholders
- Empathy and genuine interest in each Sister’s situation and demonstrated ability to maintain tact, discretion and confidentiality
- Computer literacy in current versions of Microsoft programs
- Current Driver’s Licence and access to a fully insured and maintained motor vehicle
- Willingness to maintain an up-to-date COVID-19 and influenza vaccination annually.
What’s on Offer?
- The opportunity to work for a mission-focussed organisation that strives to make a difference in the lives of others
- Negotiable daily span of hours
- Per kilometer travel reimbursement for use of personal motor vehicle.
