About the Role
Deputy Principal
As a key member of the College Leadership Team, the Deputy Principal reports directly to the Principal and plays a pivotal role in stewarding the mission of the College. Working in companionship with the Principal, Rector, and other senior leaders, the Deputy Principal provides strategic, operational, pastoral, and academic leadership across the Senior School.
The Deputy Principal provides leadership across key domains, including but are not limited to:
- Mission Leadership: Upholding and embedding Ignatian values and ensuring a continuum of mission across the College.
- Strategic & Academic Leadership: Contribute to the development and implementation of the College’s Strategic Plan, and provide leadership that fosters pedagogical rigour and drives teaching and academic excellence.
- Human Resource Leadership: foster a positive, inclusive and collaborative workplace culture grounded in trust, professional growth, and a shared commitment to the holistic development of staff.
- Cura Personalis: Championing care for the whole person by ensuring that pastoral programs continue to support students’ spiritual, emotional, and social wellbeing, and nurture a strong sense of ethics and morality.
- Professional & Community Engagement: Actively engaging with students, staff, parents, Old Boys, and the wider community to foster a vibrant, inclusive school culture.
- Risk & Compliance: Supporting the College’s commitment to child safeguarding and ensuring alignment with best practice and compliance obligations.
The Deputy Principal will be an exemplary educational leader, capable of inspiring staff and students alike, with a deep understanding and commitment to Jesuit education, contemporary pedagogy, and effective school improvement strategies.
Key Selection Criteria
The successful candidate will demonstrate:
- A commitment to the mission of Catholic education of boys in the Jesuit tradition;
- Proven leadership experience in a senior educational role, ideally in a Catholic or faith-based context;
- Demonstrated success in co-developing and implementing a whole-school strategic plan;
- Strong strategic planning, operational management, and change leadership capabilities;
- A track record of driving excellence across academic, pastoral, faith, and co-curricular domains;
- The capacity to inspire, lead and manage staff with clarity and vision;
- An ability to build authentic relationships across the College community; and
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
