Job Description

The National Catholic Education Commission is the peak national body for Catholic schools in Australia. The NCEC leads advocacy for school education and funding and works closely with state and territory Catholic education commissions and other Catholic education stakeholders.

This is an opportunity to join a strong and influential organisation and drive implementation of the key strategic priorities of Faith, Excellence and Access. Your work as the Director of Stewardship will specifically include the key strategic priorities of Access which focuses on developing strategies to support the sustainability of Catholic education and promote its mission through advocacy, funding and regulation; and Faith which focuses on enhancing the capacity of Catholic school communities to be places of faith and mission. This role reports to the Executive Director and will have responsibility for the corporate services of the Secretariat. This is a full time role based in Sydney (The Rocks).

The role:

  • Lead work to achieve the strategic priorities for Catholic education in Australia with a particular focus on the key strategic priorities of Access and Faith
  • Support the implementation and evaluation of national policies and guidelines particularly those related to access, funding and faith formation
  • Assist the NCEC to develop accountability frameworks using evaluation, data and insights to support the strategic priorities and the optimal use of funding and resources
  • Champion equity for families accessing a Catholic education
  • Enhance constructive working relationships with state and territory Catholic education commissions, government and other relevant organisations
  • Manage corporate services of the secretariat including human resources and finance
  • Engender a culture that reflects a commitment to the truths and values of the

Experience:

  • Relevant post-secondary qualifications and/or significant comparable experience in business administration and accounting
  • Extensive experience in financial modelling and in particular modelling of funding relevant to government education funding, ideally within the Catholic sector and/or a top tier accounting firm
  • A demonstrated understanding of Catholic faith formation and religious education
  • Extensive operational, team leadership and management experience ideally gained in the government and/or Catholic sector in resourcing and stewardship
  • Proven skills in implementing strategic priorities and the achievement of outcomes
  • Proven communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, energise, mobilise and inspire to achieve goals and harness skills and
