Job Description

Leading the future of Catholic Education in Western Australia

Catholic Education Western Australia Limited (CEWA) is a significant arm of the Catholic Church across Western Australia and one of the most significant education systems in Australia. 149 Christ-centred and child-focused Catholic schools and colleges nurture over 80,000 students through a dedicated workforce of more than 11,000 people, empowering students to positively shape our world through engaging, inclusive environments.
Every student’s journey of learning, growth and belonging, fostering independent thinking and mutual respect, underscores our mission to offer a transformative Catholic education to all. Supported by the Catholic Education Office, CEWA is a leading organisation locally and nationally in policy development, curriculum design and the implementation of innovative educational practices.
This role, pivotal in shaping and contributing to the national educational landscape, oversees the operations of the Catholic School system, directly operationalising the CECWA Strategic Plan and acting as its most prominent, public-facing leader. The Executive Director fosters a culture of trust, authenticity and collaboration, in leading and supporting staff towards achieving exceptional educational and religious outcomes and ensuring the Church’s teachings are deeply integrated through education into the Western Australian community.

The Executive Director of Catholic Education WA will:

• Be an active member of the Catholic Eucharistic community.
• Have extensive experience and success in executive leadership roles leading large complex organisations within the education sector.
• Demonstrate capacity to articulate an understanding of the Catholic Church’s mission in school education.
• Represent Catholic education at a State and National level and build effective relationships with key stakeholders in a manner that exhibits credibility and humility.
• Will lead and empower a team of executives in order to ensure the effective human and financial management of the Catholic education system.
