The National Catholic Education Commission (NCEC) seeks to appoint an exceptional leader as its next Executive Director, commencing in 2026. This is a rare opportunity to shape the future of Catholic Education in Australia, influencing policy, advocacy, and strategic direction. Reporting to the Chair of the NCEC, the Executive Director will provide visionary leadership that advances the mission of Catholic Education and strengthens its national voice.
The Executive Director will lead advocacy for Catholic Education, representing the sector with credibility and integrity to government, policymakers, and the broader community. This critical role will guide the development of education policy that reflects Catholic values, promotes equity and access, and supports excellence in teaching and learning. Working across jurisdictions, the Executive Director will foster collaboration among Church and education bodies, ensuring a unified approach to key priorities. Leading the NCEC Secretariat, the appointee will cultivate a high-performing, mission-driven team.
The successful candidate will have a deep commitment to the Catholic Church and Catholic Education. Bringing a proven record of leadership in education, government, or related fields, the appointee will demonstrate strong political acumen, policy expertise, and exceptional capacity to influence and engage diverse stakeholders. With outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, the Executive Director will serve as the sector’s national voice, shaping policy, strengthening partnerships and making a lasting impact on students and families across Australia.
