Job Description

12 month fixed term part time or full time opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Executive Officer to provide administration and secretariat support through the Chief Operating Officer in support of working groups established to provide assistance to Catholic Diocese around Australia in the management of their financial responsibilities. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of success in a leadership role, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team. We are open to location, however Canberra based is preferred.

The role:

  • Provide secretariat support to working groups by providing timely and relevant meeting agenda papers, reports, resources, and minutes as required.
  • Assist with organising meetings and attend as required.
  • Assist with the coordination planning of the works of the working groups in consultation with key stakeholders to ensure achievable workflows.
  • Keep the Chief Operating Officer informed about the activities of the working groups and any issues that may arise.
  • Ensure meeting papers and other documents are filed appropriately on SharePoint.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships and collaboration with agencies of the Australian Catholic Bishops Conference and where applicable, external Catholic entities, that can contribute to the work of the working groups.
  • Undertake and manage projects and other work as required from time to time.

About You:

  • An understanding of and a commitment to promote the principles of Catholic Social Teaching and Gospel values within the workplace.
  • Awareness and understanding of the political, social, demographic, theological and moral issues concerning the life and mission of the Church in Australia
  • Demonstrated experience in working independently with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrated experience in successfully working collaboratively within large and small teams.
  • Proven ability in planning, designing, leading, and undertaking project work.
  • Excellent electronic, oral and written communication skills, and demonstrated experience in the use of the Microsoft Windows operating environment and the Microsoft 365 software suite
  • Sound judgement, initiative and problem solving
  • Excellent relationship building and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Tertiary qualification or equivalent experience in a relevant discipline desirable
