About Us
Mary Aikenhead Ministries was established by the Congregation of the Religious Sisters of Charity Australia to succeed to, and to carry on and expand, various health and aged care, education and welfare ministries conducted by the Sisters of Charity of Australia.
As a public juridic person, Mary Aikenhead Ministries continues the mission and assumes responsibility to further the ministries of the Sisters of Charity. That mission is central to its task and calls forth a response through its multiple expressions.
As Canonical Stewards of the mission, the Trustees of Mary Aikenhead Ministries has a distinct ministry of leadership and are responsible for the continued viability of the ministries, promoting its ongoing mission, and animating its life, both in a formal and public way.
About the Role
The Executive Officer is a pivotal role that supports and guides the Trustees in fulfilling their responsibilities as Canonical Stewards. Reporting to the Trustees of Mary Aikenhead Ministries (TMAM) through the Chair, the Executive Office’s key responsibility is to provide trusted high-level support and advice to the Trustees on matters relating to the ministries of Mary Aikenhead Ministries.
You will play a significant role in managing relationships and being the primary point of contact between key stakeholders, St Vincent’s Health Australia, Mary Aikenhead Education Limited and TMAM.
You will support the Trustees in their governance responsibilities by providing strategic advice and reporting, providing secretariat support to meetings and activities, and actively encouraging the effectiveness and formation of the Trustees.
You will lead and manage the operations of the office which underpins the work of TMAM, including the management of staff, the management of the TMAM budget and the development and implementation of the strategic plan.
Key to this role will be your ability to actively support the life and mission of the Sisters of Charity Australia and to foster the advancement of Mary Aikenhead Ministries as Catholic ministries.
This role is a permanent, full-time appointment and based at Bondi Junction. The role will require some travel.
About You
Your experience in a similar, strategic, governance and/or operational leadership role is key to this position. Just as important will be your ability to work collaboratively with the Trustees, your commitment to mission, and your ability to contribute in a positive and meaningful way.
Specifically, as the ideal candidate for this role, you will meet the following Key Requirements:
- Commitment to and appreciation for the life, mission and ethos of the Sisters of Charity, and a demonstrated alignment with the values and mission of Mary Aikenhead Ministries.
- Extensive experience in a similar role at a senior level either in a not-for-profit, ecclesial, government or commercial environment.
- Tertiary qualifications in an area that is relevant to this role.
- Strong knowledge and understanding of governance models and processes, as well as experience drafting briefings, developing meeting papers and managing correspondence.
- Experience in the management and formation of staff.
- Ability to produce communication, briefs and reports charaterised by a superior level of literacy.
- Strong facilitation and influencing skills and an ability to build mutually respectful relationships with diverse stakeholders.
