Job Description

Strengthen Systems. Support People. Power Purpose.

As agencies of the Diocese of Cairns, Centacare FNQ and Catholic Early Learning and Care we work cooperatively under one leadership and governance model. We deliver vital community services across Far North Queensland — from early learning and care, mental health support to employment, multicultural services, aged care and disaster recovery. Behind every frontline program is a team ensuring the organisation runs smoothly, sustainably and with purpose.

We’re seeking a strategic and purpose driven General Manager – Business Services to lead this essential work. This is your opportunity to step into an executive leadership role where your expertise in finance, people, operations and systems will directly enable positive outcomes for individuals, families, and communities.

A Strategic Role with Real Impact

We have been part of the local community for nearly 40 years. Our services are practical, responsive, and grounded in Catholic social values. As General Manager – Business Services, you’ll oversee Finance, HR, Operations and ICT — the operational backbone that allows every team across our organisation to deliver meaningful, measurable support to those who need it most.

You’ll join our management team, contribute to strategic planning, and help shape the future of one of the region’s most trusted community service providers.

Why This Role Will Inspire You

  • Because you want your work to create impact. Your leadership will ensure the organisation runs effectively so our services can reach those who rely on them.
  • Because you value the importance of business services. Through attention to detail and a systemic approach.
  • Because you’re ready to lead with purpose. You’ll bring your skills to a values-led team that’s passionate about our community.

What You’ll Lead

You’ll manage and develop the internal systems that deliver business services that support our organisation across our region. This includes:

  • Strategy & Innovation – Align business systems and resourcing with our goals and values
  • Finance & Governance – Oversee financial operations, budgets, contracts, and compliance
  • People & Culture – Build capability, lead workforce planning, and support an inclusive, respectful workplace
  • Operations – support  innovation, ensure digital security, infrastructure resilience and continuity planning
  • Executive Collaboration – Partner with other GMs and report to board and funding stakeholders with transparency and insight

Who You Are

You’re an experienced leader with a sharp mind and a steady hand — someone who knows how to build strong systems while keeping people at the centre. You bring:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Business, Accounting or a related field (CA/CPA highly regarded)
  • Demonstrated experience in senior business services leadership (community services experience valued)
  • In-depth understanding of financial, HR, ICT, operations and compliance frameworks
  • A collaborative leadership style and a drive for continuous improvement
  • Familiarity with Agreements and Awards, risk and governance obligations
  • Strong communication and reporting skills, including executive and board-level engagement

You’ll also need:

  • A current Driver’s Licence
  • Blue Card and NDIS Worker Screening (or eligibility to obtain)
  • A satisfactory National Police Check

What You’ll Enjoy

  • Leave Package – including five weeks annual leave and additional paid leave benefits to support work-life balance
  • Attractive Remuneration Structure – with access to salary sacrificing to maximise your take-home pay
  • Flexible and Autonomous Work Environment – with the trust and support to lead your portfolio with independence
  • Collaborative Leadership Team – where your voice is valued and your expertise shapes organisational direction
  • Ongoing Professional Development – tailored leadership growth, peer collaboration and strategic opportunities
  • Purpose-Led Culture – grounded in Catholic social teaching, with a genuine commitment to social justice, equity and community wellbeing

If you thrive on structure, accountability and strategic leadership — and want to use those skills to support something bigger than profit — we’d love to hear from you.
