- Permanent part-time (3 days a week, Wednesday to Friday)
About us
The Sisters of Mercy Parramatta is a Catholic women’s religious congregation. Founded in 1888, the Sisters are engaged in many roles and ministries, including in school education; parishes; health; aged care; spirituality and retreat centres; adult education; faith formation; advocacy; and social justice. The Sisters operate both locally and in neighbouring developing countries. Their values are mercy, human dignity, justice, service and option for the poor.
Today, there are around 41 Sisters living independently in the community across Sydney, including Cronulla in the south, to Turramurra in the north, from Little Bay in the east to Blacktown in the west.
Many of the Sisters are ageing and need support to continue to live fulfilling lives. They are seeking a compassionate Health and Wellbeing Nurse to join their small team on a part-time basis.
About the role
Working collaboratively with the Health and Wellbeing Coordinator and other members of the Health and Wellbeing team, you will ensure the provision of holistic care and wellbeing support for the Sisters of Mercy Parramatta, particularly those who through frailty have increasing needs in maintaining their independence and social engagement.
You will contribute to the implementation of objectives, strategies and education of the Sisters; and build rapport and trusting relationships with the Sisters, so as to effectively assess their needs and enable them to live life to the fullest.
In consultation with the Health and Wellbeing Coordinator, you will coordinate health and wellbeing services tailored to the needs of each Sister, and develop and review health care and wellbeing plans as required.
Using your superior communication skills, you will liaise with healthcare providers (medical, aged and mental health) to integrate medical support into programs and respond quickly and proactively regarding Sisters’ health and wellbeing issues and concerns.
You will maintain regular contact with each Sister and provide information on rights and responsibilities concerning current and future health and aged care issues.
The role is an ongoing part-time position, three days a week. You must be available to work Wednesday to Friday and to be on call at least every third weekend.
