About Us
In 1838, five Sisters of Charity from Ireland arrived in Australia. They were the first religious women to come to the Colony. Their mission is to bring to all people “the love, tenderness and concern of Christ for the poor and marginalised”.
The Sisters of Charity of Australia, led by the Congregational Leader and her Council, have many mission involvements. While the Congregational Office is based in Sydney, the Sisters also have a presence in other locations across Australia, including in Victoria.
The Congregation is seeking a qualified Registered Nurse as the Health and Wellbeing Coordinator to support its ageing Sisters who live independently or in residential care across Victoria.
The Role
You will report to the Congregational Leader and Council on health and wellbeing matters, and to the General Manager for administrative issues. This role will work closely with the part-time Health and Wellbeing Support Coordinator in Victoria, and support the Sisters’ health so they can continue to actively participate in the Congregation’s life and mission and maintain a good quality of life.
You will coordinate health and wellbeing services tailored to the needs of each Sister, and develop, review and communicate health care and wellbeing plans, ensuring a holistic approach.
Using your superior communication skills, you will collaborate with healthcare providers, social workers, and other professionals to integrate medical support into programs, and remain current on legislative changes and best practice in health care.
You will maintain regular contact with each Sister to build trust and support, and offer information and education on health and wellbeing.
The role is an ongoing part-time position, ideally to be worked across three days a week.
About You
As well as your qualifications and experience in aged care and the community sector, you will demonstrate empathy, compassion, respect, and a commitment to upholding the Congregation’s ethos and mission in your work.
Specifically, as the ideal candidate for this role, you will meet the following Key Requirements:
- Registered Nurse with experience in aged care and community sectors
- Knowledge of aged and community care, relevant legislation, and best practice models
- Understanding of acute care and other issues relevant to the Sisters as they age
- Skills in managing Sisters’ transitions, case management, and liaison with stakeholders
- High-level interpersonal and communications skills and in building respectful relationships
- Valid driver’s licence, access to a fully maintained and insured motor vehicle, and willingness and ability to travel to Sisters’ residences, aged care facilities, and medical providers
- Flexible approach to working hours and willingness and ability to respond to emergency calls.
What’s on Offer?
- The opportunity to support those who have lived their lives in support of others.
- An attractive salary
- Work-life balance
- Mobile phone and laptop for business use.
