Founded in 1866 by Saint Mary MacKillop and Fr Julian Tenison Woods, the Sisters of Saint Joseph of the Sacred Heart operates as a registered charity with central offices in Sydney, regional offices across Australia, New Zealand and Ireland and a presence in some other countries.
We currently have opportunities for experienced Home Care Workers to join us in Kensington, South Australia on a permanent part-time basis. The Home Care Worker is responsible for providing support and hospitality to the Sisters living in the Kensington Community and works closely with the Coordinator of Hospitality and Community Coordinator to ensure a welcoming, safe and supportive environment.
We are seeking to fill two permanent part-time positions. Position 1 works Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 3.30pm to 6.30pm. Position 2 works on an alternating Sunday roster, with one Sunday from 8.00am to 11.00am and the following Sunday from 8.00am to 4.00pm.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist with meal preparation, serving meals and supporting kitchen and dining room operations.
- Prepare light evening meals for Sisters residing in the Convent.
- Undertake housekeeping, cleaning and hospitality duties to maintain a clean, safe and welcoming environment.
- Provide support and assistance to Sisters and contribute to a culture of hospitality and care.
- Report maintenance issues, supply requirements and any concerns relating to Sisters’ wellbeing.
- Ensure the security of the Convent and follow emergency procedures when required.
- Provide support and relief to other Home Care Workers as required.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE (SELECTION CRITERIA):
- Certificate III in Aged Care/Community Support or equivalent and experience in a similar role in a supported care environment.
- Knowledge of food handling techniques, manual handling and the safe use of cleaning chemicals.
- Effective interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.
- A positive and caring attitude.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and with initiative and flexibility.
- Demonstrated understanding of the principles of privacy and confidentiality.
