Housing Support Officer, BASP (VIC)

The role will work within a small team to support BASP’s activities primarily in its housing program which assists individuals and families often facing destitution.
Overall, BASP provides practical assistance to people seeking asylum, works with like-minded organisations and groups in advocating for justice and the rights of people seeking asylum.
Major Responsibilities of the Housing Officer include
- monitor the housing provided by BASP which includes routines checks and follow up of safety requirements and maintenance issues
- facilitate residents moving into properties
- assist residents understand the expectations and responsibilities of living in BASP housing and help residents to become independent and move on from BASP housing into private rental
- assist residents with becoming familiar with community services
- contribute to BASP’s ongoing development and sustainability with direction from the Coordinators.
