About Us

Red Bend Catholic College is a co-educational day and boarding school situated in Forbes, in the Central West region of NSW.  The College was formed in 1977, when three Catholic schools in the region were combined to form one co-educational High School. This merger brought together the great teaching traditions of the Mercy Sisters and the Marist Brothers.

The College aspires to create an environment which enables students to develop spiritually, intellectually, physically, culturally and socially. Through our Marist charism, we engage minds, hearts and spirits, inspiring our students to live well-rounded, ethical lives of respect, service and compassion.

The College educates around 900 students; offers 180 boarding places; and employs around 185 teaching and support staff.

We are seeking a driven and passionate Human Resources Manager to join our team of dedicated staff.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the College Principal, through the Deputy Principal, you will be the first point of contact for day-to-day HR processes and enquiries.

As well as providing support in the full gamut of generalist HR operational areas, including recruitment; employee retention; induction; learning and development; compliance; employee relations; and records administration, you will contribute to a positive culture of support for staff to enable teaching that promotes enthusiastic, independent learners.

You will work collaboratively with others to ensure HR policies, processes and programs not only comply with legislative and statutory requirements, but are in line with the mission and strategic directions of the College.

You will help build the leadership capacity of staff though engagement with Marist Schools Australia and other external agencies, and be actively involved in strategic initiatives of the College, including succession planning and organisational design.

This position is a new, full-time role with direct line management responsibility for a Governance, Risk and Compliance Coordinator.

About You

You will be a seasoned HR professional with knowledge, or demonstrated willingness to learn, about schools, or a school professional with a passion for HR.

You will be willing to promote the mission of the Catholic Church and the College, and actively participate in its prayer and liturgical life.

Specifically, as the ideal candidate for this role, you will meet the following Key Requirements:

  • Tertiary qualifications in HR or other relevant discipline (or equivalent experience)
  • A commitment to Catholic education in the Marist tradition and a willingness to contribute to the life of the College
  • Experience in day-to-day operational areas of HR, including enterprise agreement/award interpretation; performance management; reward and recognition; recruitment and selection; staffing metrics; WHS; injury management; and employee wellbeing
  • Demonstrated ability to facilitate effective change, develop high-quality policies and procedures to support initiatives, and to follow through with initiatives
  • Effective management and organisational skills and administrative experience
  • Excellent interpersonal and facilitation skills, including collaborative planning, communication, negotiation and conflict resolution skills
  • Demonstrated capacity to motivate, enthuse and lead staff in fulfilling their duties
  • A commitment to personal and professional development and a willingness to undertake relevant postgraduate studies.

What’s on Offer?

  • The opportunity to contribute to an organisation focussed on preparing young people to live well-rounded lives
  • An attractive remuneration package based on experience
  • Generous personal/carer’s and long service leave entitlements
  • Possible assistance with relocation costs and finding accommodation (for eligible candidates).
