  • Permanent Role: Drive Parish Renewal and empower Mission services in this full time, permanent position.

  • Prime Location: Located in leafy East Melbourne, within a 10-minute walk of Parliament station.

Presided over by the Archbishop, the Catholic Archdiocese of Melbourne (CAM) is the largest Archdiocese in Australia. It comprises around 1.1 million Catholics with a wide variety of people, cultures and ministries, providing services and support including pastoral, educational, social welfare, financial and administration services.

The Opportunity:

CAM is seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Human Resources Partner (HRP) to join our dynamic HR Team. This unique opportunity will report to the HR Director, CAM, and will partner with our parishes across Melbourne. As our HRP, you’ll play a pivotal role in supporting the Parish renewal strategy by providing insightful, relevant advice and comprehensive HR services. You’ll be a key generalist, bringing your expertise in employee relations, legislation, and people management processes to foster a positive, productive environment.

What sets this role apart is the opportunity to guide and support parishes in navigating change by implementing process improvements and automating workflows, ensuring a smooth transition to more efficient and effective ways of working. Your ability to adapt and support these implementations will directly contribute to the success of our Parish and Mission services

This position is based in East Melbourne and includes occasional travel to parishes across Melbourne.

Main Responsibilities of the role include:

  • Develop and implement exemplary human resource and workplace management practices in parishes which further the Church’s mission.
  • Guide Parish Priests in recruitment, retention, formation and development of parish employees and ensure mandatory compliance in line with legislation and regulations.
  • Lead and support change management initiatives in parishes to meet organisational objectives, build capability and increase capacity.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for resolving complex employee relations issues, fostering a positive work environment, and ensuring compliance with policy & procedure.
  • Lead process improvement & innovation by developing automated processes, and standardised tools and workflows, enhancing our delivery of efficient and seamless HR services across our Parishes.

About you:

  • You have a degree qualified in HR, ER, or a related field.
  • You bring a wealth of experience from similar roles, where you’ve demonstrated a deep understanding and expertise in modern human resource management.
  • You excel in analytical thinking and problem-solving, always approaching challenges with a pro-active and solution-oriented mindset.
  • You thrive in a collaborative environment, contributing to a positive and inclusive team culture through open communication and teamwork.
  • You take pride in your integrity, honesty, and confidentiality, and have an awareness and appreciation for Catholic Social Teaching.
  • National Police record and Working with Children Checks (essential)
