About Us

The Marist Brothers is an international Catholic religious order founded in 1817 by French Priest, St Marcellin Champagnat. Our mission is the education, care, evangelisation and support of young people.

The Star of the Sea Province (“Province”) has its headquarters in Mascot, Sydney. It encompasses eleven countries within Australasia, Pasifika, Melanesia and South-East Asia and employs around 100 staff.

We are seeking an experienced and driven Human Resources and Risk Advisor to join our team.

The Role

Reporting to the Province Director of Finance and Business, you will assist in all areas of human resources and risk management for the Province.

You will support ministry leaders and managers with processes related to all stages of the employment lifecycle, including on-boarding and off-boarding, learning and development, talent management, employee relations, workplace investigations, injury management, and human resources reporting and analytics.

You will develop and maintain contemporary human resource policies, processes and systems, ensuring compliance with workplace legislation.

Working closely with the Risk Manager, you will oversight the Province’s risk management program to ensure effective strategies are developed and implemented to identify and manage organisational risk.

The role is a permanent, part-time position based at the Marist Centre in Mascot, Sydney, with flexibility to work from home up to two days a week. Some intrastate and interstate travel may be required from time to time.

About You

You will be a have a background in human resources and risk management, ideally in the not-for-profit sector.

You will be a team-player, able to work independently, and have a flexible approach to work.

You will have an understanding of and support for the ethos and mission of the Marist Brothers.

Specifically, as the ideal candidate you will meet the following Key Requirements:

  • Tertiary qualifications in human resources management or related field, relevant experience (ideally in the not-for-profit sector), and sound knowledge of workplace legislation
  • Experience in the implementation and application of risk management programs
  • Experience in policy development and review
  • Demonstrated ability to develop, deliver, evaluate and review training and professional development programs
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills, and demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and to develop and maintain positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability to operate a range of software programs, including Office 365
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion at all times
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and consistently meet deadlines.
