Job Description

Following the retirement, after fifteen years, of our foundation Director, the Carmelite Friars are seeking a new leader to continue developing this important ministry into the future.  The role of Leader focuses on facilitating spiritual journeys in the Carmelite tradition of contemplation, service and hospitality with the world.

The Carmelite Centre delivers a range of spirituality programs via both in-person and online based programs.  Individual programs are volunteer-led, and operate on a range of timetables.  Further information about the Centre’s programs are available at www.thecarmelitecentremelbourne.org/

The position is offered at ten hours per week, at an hourly rate of $59.  It is a part-time contract position, which includes holiday pay, sick leave and superannuation.

Applications are open to both lay persons and professed religious.  It is envisaged that the Leader will be physically present for the role at our Centre in Middle Park, however some flexibility is available.

If you have an affinity with Carmelite spirituality, a demonstrable commitment to your own spiritual journey, tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline, and experience in community engagement we would love to start a conversation…

Applications close FRI 24 JAN 2025.  Interviews will be held in February, with a view to a March commencement.

Applications should include a covering letter which addresses the “MUST HAVE” and “WELL REGARDED” criteria established in the Position Description.

Applications should be directed to the Provincial, Fr Bruce Clark O.Carm at: [email protected]

Enquiries about the role may be directed to Fr David Hofman O.Carm at: [email protected]
