About the role
This full-time role of Manager, SSJG Heritage Centre Broome (Centre) offers an exciting opportunity to lead the operations and strategic direction of a renowned cultural institution in Broome, Western Australia. Located in the vibrant heart of Broome, the Centre celebrates the rich social history relating of the Sisters of St John of God in the Kimberley and their relationship with Aboriginal people through innovative exhibitions and engagement programs. As the Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the Centre’s activities and ensuring it continues to thrive as a hub for cultural preservation and community connection.
What you’ll be doing
- Providing strategic leadership and a hands on approach to the day to day operational management of the SSJG Heritage Centre Broome
- Developing and implementing engaging exhibition and public program plans that showcase the social history relating to the Sisters of St John of God in the Kimberley and their relationship with Aboriginal people
- Managing and developing the Centre’s dedicated team
- Overseeing the Centre’s budget and financial reporting
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders, including local indigenous communities, government agencies and cultural organisations
- Promoting the Centre and its activities through effective marketing and communication strategies
- Ensuring the Centre’s facilities, collections and operations comply with all relevant policies, procedures and legislative requirements
What we’re looking for
- Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field such as museology, cultural studies or arts management
- Extensive experience in a leadership role within a cultural institution, museum or gallery setting
- Demonstrated expertise in exhibition curation, public program design and cultural heritage management
- Strong understanding of, experience with, and commitment to indigenous and multicultural community engagement
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management and team leadership skills
- Proficient in financial management and budgeting
