Job Description

Marist Schools Australia brings together a family of 58 Catholic schools which draw on Marist spirituality and Marist educational practice that shapes their identity and enlivens their mission of evangelisation through Catholic education. Marist Schools Australia provides governance, leadership, and faith formation opportunities from three Regional Offices, in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane.

We invite applications for the position of Governance, Risk and Legal Officer, a role integral to ensuring robust governance, effective risk management, and legal compliance across our organisation.

Commencement date is negotiable for the 2026 school year. This is a part-time appointment based in Sydney.

To be considered for this position, you will:

  • understand and demonstrate a willingness to support the ethos, mission and values of Marist Schools Australia
  • have a comprehensive knowledge of corporate governance principles and risk management methodologies
  • possess appropriate qualifications and experience including tertiary qualifications in law, finance, corporate governance or related area or experience in governance, risk and compliance
  • have good knowledge of relevant legislation across multiple jurisdictions
  • have advanced analytical, communication and problem-solving capabilities
  • have the ability to act with a very high level of confidentiality and discretion at all times
  • have the ability to work effectively under pressure and consistently meet deadlines
  • possess a flexible approach to duties and hours
  • attend and actively participate in staff training, professional development and workshops as required
  • have the ability to operate online with a range of software programs, including Microsoft Office 365 and zoom.
  • be a resident of Australia
  • hold valid Working with Children Check/s and National Criminal History Check
