Job Description

The Role

  • A unique position working as a Network Facilitator for the Mercy Associates program in New South Wales
  • The primary purpose of this role will be to support Mercy Associates groups from a spiritual and pastoral perspective and build up the program overall
  • The position is casual (15 – 30 hours per month) and will require flexible working hours which may include nights and weekends, with some travel in regional NSW required

The Network Facilitators have a support role to Mercy Associates groups, striving to develop skills within groups to enable them to independently conduct and take responsibility for their own activities. The Network Facilitators also have a key role in promoting the Mercy Associates program with a view to establishing new groups, especially in Mercy ministry workplaces. As interest arises in starting a new group, the Network Facilitator will assist the group in becoming established including ensuring aspiring Mercy Associates to undertake the formation program.

The Organisation

The Institute of Sisters of Mercy of Australia and Papua New Guinea (ISMAPNG) is a Religious Institute of Catholic women who advance the reign of God by engaging in the spiritual and corporal works of mercy.  As women of mercy inspired by the gospel and their foundress, Catherine McAuley, their mission is to live hospitality, compassion and justice. Their ministries include health, aged care, education, social welfare, advocacy and environmental sustainability.

Mercy Associates is a program operated by ISMAPNG for lay people who cherish the virtue and practice of mercy in their lives and seek a faith community to nurture their commitment to mercy. Mercy Associates groups are found in a variety of places including parishes, workplaces and online networks. There are currently about eighteen Mercy Associates groups around Australia and Papua New Guinea, and it is intended to offer this program to others and found new groups, mostly but not exclusively in Mercy workplaces. Network Facilitators are also employed in WA, Queensland and Victoria.  Further information is available at http://institute.mercy.org.au/become-involved/become-a-mercy-associate/
