About Us
The Little Sisters of the Poor are an international congregation of Roman Catholic women religious. Together with a diverse network of collaborators, the Sisters serve the neediest elderly of every race and religion and offer care and accompaniment with dignity and in the spirit of the mission of the congregation.
Operating three aged care homes in Australia (Sydney, Melbourne and Perth), the Little Sisters of the Poor Aged Care Limited (Company) Board is composed of members of the Little Sisters who are responsible for upholding the mission, vision and key decision-making. They are supported by the National Advisory Group, a sub-committee of the Board, who are a group of volunteer professionals who provide input on the governance of all aged care matters under the Aged Care (Cth) 2024 and related principles and regulations.
About the Opportunity
The Board is seeking expressions of interest from suitably qualified people who are committed to the principles of aged care and have a passion for supporting and promoting quality care and support services to the elderly.
We are seeking a number of National Advisory Group Members for this voluntary position with considerable knowledge, skills and experience preferably in one or more of the following: Aged Care and Retirement Living Operations, Marketing and Communications, Fundraising, Accounting, Leading Practice Aged Clinical Care/Services or Property/Real Estate.
Underpinning the experiences you bring to the National Advisory Group will be your commitment to the principles of aged care and a commitment to providing holistic and dignified care to the elderly in a way that is nurturing and inclusive and one that is guided by the Sisters’ Catholic faith.
As a Member of the National Advisory Group, you will work alongside the Board in an advisory capacity, guiding good decision making and management of the functions in relation to the Company. This role is pivotal in contributing to the Board’s responsibilities especially in areas such as consumer engagement and development of care and support services, governance and oversight of management’s systems and processes, risk management systems, best practice and clinical governance.
The current National Advisory Group meets 6 times per year and those meetings are currently conducted during business hours, a mixture of virtual and face to face. Travel and other out-of-pocket expenses will be covered to fulfill Member obligations. Members are appointed for a 3-year term with the possibility of reappointment.
