About ACRATH
Australian Catholic Religious Against Trafficking in Humans (ACRATH) is a membership based association committed to eliminating human trafficking and the harm it causes in Australia, the Asia Pacific region and globally. Since 2005, ACRATH has been a pioneering voice in the Australian Catholic sector in the fight against human trafficking and modern slavery. Belief in the inherent dignity of human persons and protection of their rights are the foundation of Catholic Social Teaching and underpin the work of ACRATH.
The National Committee of ACRATH is seeking expressions of interest for the role of National Executive Officer who will be able to take forward its vision and mission on behalf of the Committee and its Members.
About the Opportunity
In collaboration with the National Committee and its members, the National Executive Officer’s primary responsibility will be to lead the development and execution of ACRATH’s strategic plan, ensuring alignment with ACRATH’s vision and mission while maintaining accountability to the Members.
You will provide leadership and oversight to Members through our Regional Coordinators and working groups, while supporting their ongoing formation and professional development. You will cultivate and lead a supportive and engaging work environment that attracts, develops, and encourages employees and volunteers in the National Office.
You will provide opportunities for Regional Coordinators, staff, members and representatives of other anit-slavery/counter trafficking organisations to dialogue, reflect and share information in the areas of human trafficking and modern slavery, ensuring they are supported and resourced to advocate ACRATH’s mission.
You will lead a small team based at ACRATH’s National Office in Albert Park, Melbourne whose key focus is to develp and implement projects, both short-term and long-term, that are aligned with the strategic plan. You will have responsibility for the day-to-day operations of that National Office including ACRATH’S finances, records management, reporting, recruitment, risk management and safeguarding.
You will work closely with the National Committee to ensure compliance with the requirements of Consumer Affairs Victoria, ACNC, the ATO, and fundraising licensing bodies, as well as compliance with the requirements of grant bodies and funding partners.
Key to this role will be your ability to stay informed about emerging trends in addressing human trafficking and slavery both in Australia and globally and ensuring the National Committee is informed about the issues, challenges, risks and opportunities associated with those trends.
This opportunity is a full-time role, however we are open to the role being 4 days per week. A flexible, hybrid work arrangement is available and negotiable with the successful candidate. Â Travel will required from time-to-time.
About You
This role will suit someone who has leadership experience with demonstrated experience developing and leading strategic plans and communicating an organisation’s mission and strategic direction.
Specifically, as the ideal candidate for this role, you will meet the following Key Requirements:
- Senior leadership experience within a social justice, service-based or not-for-profit organisation.
- Demonstrated commitment to and understanding of Catholic Social Teaching, with an understanding of its application in social justice, educational and human rights advocacy.
- Demonstrated experience in working with a governing body or board.
- Experience in managing small teams, mentoring staff and volunteers, and fostering a collaborative, mission-driven workplace culture.
- Experience in building and maintaining strong stakeholder relationships, including government bodies, faith-based organisations, NGOs, and advocacy groups.
- Demonstrated experience in financial oversight, including budgeting, donor engagement, grant management, and the development of sustainable funding strategies.
- Willingness to remain current with the recommendations of the Australian Government Authorites regarding the Covid-19 vaccination.
