The Catholic Archdiocese of Brisbane is seeking a professional and motivated Parish Manager to support the mission and operations of the Hendra and Clayfield Parish. This role is central to the daily life of the parish, ensuring smooth administrative, pastoral, and operational functions in collaboration with the Parish Priest and parish team.
About the Parish
The Parish Office supports the Mother of Mercy and St Agatha’s communities, which include four churches: Our Lady Help of Christians (Hendra), St Agatha’s (Clayfield), St John’s (Northgate), and St Cecilia’s (Hamilton). This is a vibrant, faith-driven environment with strong community involvement and diverse ministries.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee daily parish office operations and administration
- Provide support to the Parish Priest and parish staff
- Coordinate sacramental and liturgical program administration
- Maintain parish records, compliance documentation, and reporting
- Liaise with parishioners, volunteers, and community members
- Assist the Parish Priest in the preparation and coordination of funerals and weddings
- Assist the Parish Priest with diary management and preparation
- Organise meetings, rosters, and parish events
- Manage correspondence, newsletters, and parish communications
- Oversee suppliers, contractors, and general office requirements
- Overview of parish facilities and maintenance
About You:
We are looking for someone who brings:
- Strong administrative and organisational skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities
- Experience in office or parish administration
- Respect for and commitment to the values and teachings of the Catholic Church
- A collaborative and professional approach with the ability to handle sensitive information
- Confidence in managing multiple tasks and priorities
- Knowledge/experience of funeral coordination and preparation
- Experience in pastoral or community work
- Willingness to work flexible hours
Requirements
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Completion of, or willingness to undertake, theological studies/certification
- Ability to learn parish systems (e.g. Flocknote)
- Blue Card (Working with Children) or willingness to obtain
- Police Check or willingness to obtain
