About the Role

Are you an experienced Payroll professional with a passion for HR? Do you enjoy working in a collaborative environment where your attention to detail and interpersonal skills make a difference? We are looking for a skilled Payroll and HR Officer to join our dynamic team.

As the Payroll and HR Officer, you will be responsible for managing our fortnightly payroll for approximately 50–60 salaried and casual staff, while also providing a wide range of HR support across the organisation. This dual-function role is pivotal in ensuring compliance, accuracy, and efficiency in both payroll and human resources.

This position is a permanent part-time role, working 3-4 days per week.  Hours and days to be worked are flexible. The role will be based at North Sydney.

Key Responsibilities

Payroll Duties

  • Manage and process end-to-end fortnightly payroll (salaried & casual staff).
  • Onboard new employees, process changes, and handle terminations in line with payroll deadlines.
  • Ensure all payroll processes align with Modern Awards and Employment Contracts.
  • Calculate superannuation, payroll tax, and related obligations.
  • Maintain payroll records, systems, and internal procedures.
  • Assist with payroll reporting as needed.
  • Address and resolve payroll-related queries in a timely manner.

HR Duties

  • Draft HR documents including position descriptions, employment contracts, and variation letters.
  • Assist with end-to-end recruitment including advertising roles and applicant management.
  • Conduct compliance checks.
  • Support the annual salary review process.
  • Provide HR guidance and support to all staff.
  • Monitor adherence to HR policies and procedures.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential HR records and databases.
  • Manage staff online compliance training programs.

About You

Key Requirements for the role include:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Human Resources or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 4 years’ experience in end-to-end payroll processing.
  • Experience using MYOB for payroll and Deputy or a similar timesheet system.
  • Strong knowledge of employment legislation, including award interpretation, PAYG, superannuation, and payroll tax.
  • High attention to detail and data accuracy.
  • Solid understanding of HR policies and compliance requirements.
  • Excellent organisational, time management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
