An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Policy Officer to join the team at Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools Ltd.

We own, govern and operate approximately 300 Catholic schools, employ over 17,000 staff and serve more than 118,000 students and their families in the Archdiocese of Melbourne. YOUR ROLE
As Policy Officer within the Catholic Mission and Identity (CMI) directorate, you will play a key role in shaping policy and resources that authentically reflect Catholic Church teaching, theology, and Canon Law. You will provide strategic and theological insight into the development of content, frameworks, and policy that reinforce MACS’s commitment to the dignity of the human person and its 2030 strategic purpose. Your work will support school leaders and teachers to deliver Catholic education that is intellectually rigorous, pastorally responsive, and rooted in tradition. This role offers a unique opportunity to shape the theological and philosophical underpinnings of Catholic education across the system.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- You will lead the development, review and implementation of theologically grounded policies, frameworks and online content for MACS schools.
- You will offer expert advice in theological anthropology, Canon Law, and Catholic ethics to ensure alignment with Catholic identity and MACS 2030 vision.
- You will collaborate with internal and external theological experts, diocesan partners, and school leaders to ensure a consistent and authentic Catholic voice in policy and practice.
- You will contribute to instructional and liturgical resources, enhancing religious education and sacramental life across the system.
- You will identify and recommend appropriate resources that support school leaders and RE teachers in their mission to form students in faith, hope and love.
- You will communicate complex theological and ethical ideas in accessible ways for educators and school communities.
ABOUT YOU
- You bring deep expertise in theology, Canon Law or related disciplines, with a strong understanding of Catholic teachings and their practical application in education.
- You are a skilled communicator and writer, capable of translating complex theological concepts into clear and engaging resources for school audiences.
- You are analytical, collaborative and able to draw on contemporary research and Catholic tradition to inform policy development and resource design.
- You have experience working across diverse teams and stakeholders, contributing to projects with clarity, purpose, and professionalism.
- You are organised, adaptable, and committed to supporting Catholic education that enables the spiritual and academic flourishing of all students.
