Position:            Principal

Location:           St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School, Blackall (current enrolment approx. 53 students)
TEC Range:       $171,878 to $188,038 including 12.75% Superannuation
Tenure:               Full Time
Commencing:    January 2025

This is an exciting leadership opportunity to lead the school community of St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School, Blackall commencing January 2025.

St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School, Blackall is part of a Catholic system of kindergartens, primary schools and colleges in the Diocese of Rockhampton (CEDR) encompassing rural and regional centres from Mackay, south to Bundaberg, and west to Longreach.

St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School, a co-educational Catholic school in Blackall, was originally established by the Josephite Sisters in 1917 as part of the Brisbane Diocese and became part of the Rockhampton Diocese in 1930. The school serves students from Prep to Year 6 featuring five classrooms equipped with various technological equipment and flexible learning furniture. Additionally, there is a state-of-the-art Early Learning Precinct that encompasses the Kindergarten, Prep and Year 1 classrooms, an outdoor natural play area, a well-equipped library, renovated administration block, adjoining Kindergarten facility, a multipurpose centre and a vast sporting oval.
St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School is a faith filled community inspired by the compassion, faith and dedication of its patron saint, St Joseph. The school honours the legacy of St Mary of the Cross MacKillop, who co-founded the Institute of the Sisters of St Joseph. Emphasising the Josephite Charism of “Finding God in the ordinary circumstances of daily life,” the school instils the core virtues of Respect, Responsibility, Prayerfulness, Service and Integrity in its students, fostering their spiritual, academic and social growth.

As Principal, you will be a committed, practising Catholic educator with the capability to lead the religious life of the school and dedicated to ensuring students are provided with the very best opportunities to grow in faith and achieve success. Student engagement and wellbeing are nurtured within a positive, safe and supportive environment.

The Principal’s call to leadership is a call to respond to the centrality of Jesus Christ in all aspects of school life and serve the Mission of Catholic Education.The position of Principal provides for the leadership and management of quality Catholic schooling whilst allowing for personal growth and professional development within the role. The Principal is the leading educator within the school, inspiring students, staff and members of the community to continuously enhance learning and personal growth while seeking to help others deepen their knowledge and experience of our Catholic faith.

In your role as Principal of St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School, you will be supported by the staff of the Catholic Education Office in the areas of Teaching and Learning, Catholic Identity, Indigenous Education, ICT, Finance, Strategy, Business Development, Human Resources and Student Protection.

You will report to the Diocesan Director Catholic Education in the Diocese of Rockhampton through the Assistant Director: Schools (Western Region).
