The Institute of Sisters of Mercy of Australia and Papua New Guinea (‘the Institute’) is a Religious Institute of Catholic women who advance the reign of God by engaging in the spiritual and corporal works of mercy.
As women of mercy inspired by the gospel and their foundress, Catherine McAuley, their mission is to live hospitality, compassion and justice.
The purpose of this position is work to with the Sisters in the Institute’s South-East Queensland community (largely based in Brisbane) to assist members to grow in fidelity to the life and mission of the Institute and live Mercy purposefully at the local level and to be their first point of contact for two-way information/communication and connection to the Institute including services provided by the Institute’s Professional Services teams.
Key Responsibility Areas:
1: Facilitating and supporting the living of community life among the Sisters
- Creating, sustaining relationships within the region with, between and on occasion on behalf of the community
- Point of contact for Church and Civil authorities
- Coordinate opportunities for Sisters to meet, talk and pray and to facilitate/assist with local celebrations including funerals and jubilees.
2: Communications
- Ensure all Sisters have access to Institute, Community and other relevant communications.
- Ensure processes are in place for communicating important events and decisions to local Sisters.
3: Administration
- Ensure that all processes needed for the smooth conduct of community living are in place
- Work collaboratively with the Professional Services teams, Community Support Assistant and Wellbeing and Health personnel
- Ensure safeguarding requirements of the Sisters are undertaken and completed
- Travel when required to visit Sisters and particular Institute meetings or gatherings
This position is a 12 month maximum term contract, working 10am to 3pm (30 hours per fortnight), Monday, Wednesday & Friday.
