An excellent opportunity has arisen for a School and Parish Officer to join the team at Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools Ltd.

YOUR ROLE

The School and Parish Officer is a newly created role within the Catholic Mission and Identity Team, established to strengthen the relationships between Catholic schools and their parish communities in alignment with the MACS 2030 Strategic Plan. This role supports the development and delivery of programs and resources that enhance faith formation, deepen understanding of Catholic tradition, and bring the “Working Together in Mission” initiative to life within school-parish contexts. It is ideally suited to an experienced professional with strong theological or Religious Education knowledge, who is skilled in building partnerships, stakeholder engagement, and project coordination. The Catholic Mission and Identity team leads initiatives that promote Catholic faith formation, parish-school collaboration, and spiritual enrichment for school communities across the Archdiocese.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Embed the Working Together in Mission initiative by supporting deeper engagement between schools and their parish communities.
  • Collaborate with internal MACS teams and Archdiocesan partners to develop liturgical and sacramental resources for schools.
  • Work with school leaders and parish priests to foster constructive, faith-based relationships that benefit families and communities.
  • Coordinate strategic programs that enhance family faith formation and strengthen the school-parish connection.
  • Represent the Catholic Mission and Identity team at events, building strong networks within MACS and across the broader Catholic environment.
  • Provide practical support and guidance to schools to activate local faith-based initiatives and encourage greater community involvement.

ABOUT YOU

  • You demonstrate a deep understanding of the Catholic tradition and are committed to the mission and values of Catholic education.
  • You hold relevant qualifications in theology, religious education or a related discipline, with experience in educational or pastoral environments.
  • You communicate with clarity and warmth, and build strong relationships across diverse school and parish communities.
  • You bring a collaborative mindset and work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • You manage your time and priorities well, balancing multiple tasks in a dynamic environment.
  • You work respectfully with clergy, school leaders, families and partners, and are confident navigating faith-based contexts.

Salary range for this position is $117,064 (EO1) – $137,125 (EO5) per annum exclusive of superannuation as specified in the Catholic Education Multi-Enterprise Agreement 2022.
