About Us
The Congregation of the Daughters of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart is a Catholic Congregation of Religious Women founded in France in 1874 by Fr. Jules Chevalier, MSC. The Sisters live out their mission through various ministries within Australia and overseas. Our core values include compassion and kindness; respect for the value and dignity of the human person, relationships and the environment; justice and the alleviation of suffering; hospitality of heart and welcome of all.
The Congregation is international in character and has a specific missionary purpose. The Australian Province is headquartered at the Provincial Office in Kensington NSW and is led by the Provincial Leader with advice from her Council.
We are seeking an experienced and motivated leader to join our team.
About the Role
Reporting to the Provincial Leader and her Council, you will assist the Leadership team with strategically planning and managing the Province’s operations, to meet the evolving needs of the ageing Sisters and the Province. In doing this, you will ensure the Congregation meets its governance, compliance, other obligations and other needs as they arise.
You will operate at both a strategic and hands-on level across multiple areas, including organizational review and redesign, future transition, compliance & governance, human resource management, capital works and property management. This will include reviewing and updating the Province’s 10-year capital works plan in relation to the Province’s properties.
Using your exceptional leadership and change management skills, you will lead and manage the operations of the Kensington site and ensure a positive workplace culture and safe and welcoming environment for the Sisters, and you will oversee the operations of other ministries of the Congregation and ensure their effective transition into the future.
The role is a permanent full-time role, based in Kensington, Sydney. Occasional interstate travel may be required.
About You
You will be a seasoned leader with the ability to think strategically but to also work operationally, and you will have an understanding of the issues faced by religious congregations as their members age.
You will have an appreciation of and commitment to supporting the life, mission and charism of the Daughters of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart.
As the ideal candidate, you will satisfy the following Key Requirements:
- Relevant tertiary qualifications and experience, including experience in leading and implementing change and project management at a senior level, ideally in the not-for-profit sector (in particular, in aged care), and property management experience
- Demonstrated understanding of the structure and issues facing Catholic religious institutes
- Superior strategic and operational problem-solving skills and ability to be creative and innovative in mid to long term planning
- Proven management experience in organizational design, and demonstrated ability to analyze and redesign organizational structures, assess workforce capabilities and develop practical solutions
- Strong people-management skills with a collaborative style of leadership, and proven ability to motivate staff and drive a harmonious and high-performance workplace culture
- Ability to establish and maintain caring and respectful relationships with the Sisters and to foster good working relationships with all stakeholders
- Exceptional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
