The Catholic Diocese of Broken Bay (Diocese) is home to more than 215,000 Catholics and exists to serve the People of God in Sydney’s Northern Beaches, the North Shore and the Central Coast. About the Role

The Social Media and Marketing Coordinator is a newly established role within the Diocese Office for Media and Communications created to enhance the Diocese’s digital presence through innovative content creation and strategic marketing. The position requires a proven track record in managing social media platforms and developing engaging campaigns that reflect the Bishop’s mission, vision, and pastoral priorities. The role is central to ensuring that these core priorities are effectively and creatively communicated to the wider Diocese and beyond through various multimedia channels.

In this role, the Social Media and Marketing Coordinator will be responsible for generating content, overseeing the Diocese’s social media activity, and implementing marketing strategies to expand its digital reach. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of contemporary marketing tools and the ability to lead campaigns from initial concept through to execution. A key focus of the position is to grow the Diocese’s profile while maintaining consistency in message and quality.

Working within the Office for Media and Communications, the Social Media and Marketing Coordinator will contribute to the broader mission of evangelisation in cooperation with the Media and Communications Team. The role merges social media expertise with marketing experience to produce impactful and cohesive content across platforms. Accountability and alignment with the Diocese’s mission goals are essential to ensure the success of this dynamic position.

At the heart of this role will be your ability to work collaboratively with various diocesan stakeholders as it relates to Mission projects, and an openness to work with the Team as it evolves and strives to meet the needs of the Diocese.

This position is a full-time role and based at Pennant Hills. Onsite parking is available.

Key Requirements

The Social Media and Marketing Coordinator will ideally possess the following knowledge, experience and qualifications:

  • An understanding of the Catholic Church, its mission, values and the sensitivities and nuances of dealing with various stakeholders.
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Communications, Digital Media and/or Journalism and Marketing.
  • Experience in building effective social media presentations and marketing campaigns.
  • Experience working with web development and graphic design in optimising social media and marketing campaigns.
  • A comprehensive knowledge of text, graphics, digital animation, video, audio and photography that can be delivered on a range of platforms.
  • A comprehensive knowledge in creating engaging content, including text posts, video and images for use on social media and promoting projects and services.
  • High level skills in contemporary computer applications including but not limited to: Microsoft Office & Adobe Creative Suite; SEO/SEM; Google Analytics and conversion tracking; Email software such as MailChimp, SendGrid; Social media channels; GIF and other forms of animation; WordPress; Wix; Sitecore; Weebly; Squiz Matrix, Canva; and Macromedia Director and Flash
  • Awareness of current social media trends and a willingness to keep up to date with latest news, tools, applications and social media best practices and technologies, and relevant legislation.
  • Highly developed written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and consultatively across a broad spectrum of stakeholders.
