Help Shape the Future of Youth Engagement at Mary Mackillop Place
Are you passionate about creating spaces where young people feel welcomed, inspired and connected?
Mary MacKillop Place is looking for an energetic, creative and purpose-driven Youth Engagement Officer to help young people discover community, spirituality, and the story of Saint Mary MacKillop in ways that feel relevant and meaningful.
Mary MacKillop Place is a place of retreat, welcome, reflection, and encounter, inspired by the life of Saint Mary MacKillop and guided by the values of compassion, service, justice, and respect that shaped her faith and mission.
What You’ll Do
In this role, no two days will look the same. You will:
- Design fresh, engaging programs and hold events that attract young people to Mary MacKillop Place
- Create welcoming, faith-filled experiences that feel relevant and authentic
- Bring Catholic liturgies and spiritual moments to life in ways that resonate with young people
- Build strong connections with schools, parishes, dioceses, universities and youth communities
- Use social media and digital platforms to engage and grow participation and awareness of Saint Mary MacKillop
- Develop pathways that keep young people connected beyond their first visit
Who You Are
You bring energy, heart, and creativity to your work. You understand young people – what inspires them and what challenges them and you are motivated by creating environments where they feel welcomed, respected, and able to belong.
You are committed to the Catholic faith and its social teaching, which is core to the mission of Mary MacKillop Place. These values include, among others, respect for the dignity of all people; a commitment to justice for those who are marginalised; care for the environment; and care for and respect of First Nations cultures and Reconciliation.
You think creatively and are comfortable turning ideas into practical, engaging programs. You are a natural relationship-builder, able to connect with young people as well as schools, parishes, and community partners. You communicate confidently across digital platforms and are organised, adaptable, and able to manage multiple priorities.
You value inclusion, work collaboratively, and approach your role with professionalism, integrity, and care.
You will ideally bring tertiary qualifications in youth ministry, education, community engagement, or a related field, and have at least 2–3 years’ experience working with young people, leading engagement programs, or coordinating events in a community, parish, or educational setting.
We’d love to hear from you if you:
- Have experience working with young people and are passionate about your faith.
- Think creatively and aren’t afraid to try new ideas
- Are a natural relationship builder
- Communicate confidently across digital spaces
- Are organised and able to bring ideas from concept to reality
- Value inclusion and respect
- Are guided by Gospel principles and feel inspired by the spirit and legacy of Saint Mary MacKillop
