Marist Schools Australia (MSA) invites applicants from experienced educational leaders who are passionate about faith formation, Catholic education, and the animation of Marist life and mission for the position of:

Assistant Director, Marist Mission and Life Formation Team (MLF)

Location: Marist Centre Sydney, Mascot, NSW.

Employment Type: Full-time

Commencing: Negotiable, with the successful applicant able to commence from Term 4, 2026, or January 2027.

Marist Schools Australia is seeking an experienced, contemporary, and relational Catholic leader with a demonstrated commitment to formation and education.

Working in collaboration with the Director, Marist Mission and Life Formation, the Assistant Director provides strategic and operational leadership in the development, delivery, and innovation of high-quality formation initiatives across the national Marist network, supporting 58 Marist schools and other ministries throughout Australia.

The role has a key responsibility for advancing Marist identity, spirituality, mission, and leadership formation through the animation of formation programs, resources, and experiences for staff, leaders, young adults, members of the Marist Association of Saint Marcellin Champagnat, and other Marist ministries. The position shares responsibility for leading and managing a national formation team committed to excellence in formation.

This position presents an exciting opportunity for an experienced middle or senior leader who is passionate about formation, leadership development, and accompanying others in the growth of Marist life and mission across Australia.

Essential Criteria

  • A commitment to promote the teachings of the Catholic Church and an active member of a Catholic Eucharistic community.
  • A deep commitment to and experience in Catholic education, with the ability to support and promote Marist values, spirituality, and mission.
  • Significant leadership experience in education, mission, faith formation, or pastoral leadership.
  • Highly developed strategic, interpersonal, and organisational capabilities.
  • Master’s degree or equivalent qualifications, with studies in theology, preferably at postgraduate level.
  • Proven experience in the design, facilitation, and evaluation of adult faith formation, leadership development programs, and associated resources.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams, manage complex projects, and support the professional growth, wellbeing, and performance of staff.

An attractive remuneration package will be negotiated with the successful applicant, commensurate with qualifications, experience, and the seniority of the role.
