As part of that commitment, the Archdiocese established the Safeguarding and Ministerial Integrity Office (Office) in 2015 to raise awareness regarding its collective responsibility to protect the safety, wellbeing and dignity of children, young people and vulnerable adults within the Archdiocese and to respond swiftly and compassionately in circumstances in which children are harmed or at risk of being harmed.

We are seeking a highly skilled and capable person for the role of Case Administration Officer/Casework Officer to support the office with a variety of tasks related to casework, casework administration and communication.

The role is a full-time role currently based in Leichhardt however there are plans to relocate to Elizabeth Street, Sydney CBD in early 2027.

About the Role

The Case Administration Officer/Casework Officer plays a critical role in supporting the Archdiocese’s safeguarding commitment, providing administrative case management support to ensure the protection of children, young people, and vulnerable adults.

Working closely and collaboratively with the Office team, this role is office-based, with no field work required and focused on coordinating case processes, maintaining accurate and confidential records, preparing documentation, and supporting communication with parishes, agencies, and external stakeholders.

You will assist in managing case workflows, arranging meetings and interviews, drafting reports and correspondence, and ensuring compliance with safeguarding legislation and Archdiocesan policies.

This role operates within a highly sensitive and regulated environment. You will be working with information and subject matter that can be complex and, at times, confronting. It requires a high level of discretion, emotional resilience, and the ability to engage with sensitive matters in a professional and trauma-informed manner.

Key to this role will be your ability to support and promote a proactive safeguarding culture by providing a sensitive, trauma informed response within an administrative and compliance-focused context.

About You

You are a capable and resilient professional with experience in safeguarding, child protection, or a related human services environment. You understand the seriousness and sensitivity of this work and bring the maturity and judgement required to navigate complex and, at times, challenging subject matter.

You have experience working within a regulated environment and are confident managing case-related documentation, maintaining accurate records, and supporting structured processes in line with legislative and policy requirements. Your background may be in social work, community services, welfare, psychology, education, law, or a related field.

You are able to engage with sensitive situations in a calm, respectful, and trauma-informed way, demonstrating empathy while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries. You are comfortable handling confidential information and exercise sound judgement in all aspects of your work.

You are highly organised, detail-oriented, and able to manage competing priorities in a busy environment. You communicate clearly and professionally and work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
