St Vincent’s College (College) is an independent day and boarding school offering a contemporary Catholic Education for girls in Years 7-12. Founded by the Sisters of Charity in 1858, and now under the stewardship of Mary Aikenhead Ministries, we are a dynamic learning community, cherishing our Catholic heritage and fostering creativity, courage, discernment and leadership in young women.

The College is seeking an experienced Finance Manager to fulfill this pivotal role in the life of this community, and to lead and manage the finance function of the College.

About the Role

Reporting to the Business Manager, and as a key member of the Leadership Team, you will support the College and its senior leaders to operate and flourish by providing sound financial advice, day-to-day operations support, budget planning and reporting, compliance and financial reporting requirements and good stewardship of the College’s resources.

This is a pivotal role responsible for the management and day-to-day administration of the financial accounting and reporting activities of the College, as well as ensuring the College’s financial obligations and statutory functions are carried out in a professional manner and in accordance with relevant policies and legislation. You will manage a team of finance professionals and ensuring the delivery of sound and effective support services to the College community.

The College has embarked in a review and implementation of a new College finance system, and this role will be influential in the delivery of that implementation. Your role will be to ensure the new system’s requirements are met, and that all staff are trained and supported as the College transitions to the new system.

The position is a full-time role and based in Potts Point.

About You

Key to this role is your leadership and operations experience and willingness to support the life, mission and charism of St Vincent’s College.

Just as important is your ability to establish and build strong working relationships with staff, colleagues and internal and external stakeholders.

Specifically, as the ideal candidate you will meet the following Key Requirements:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Finance or Accounting (CPA or CA preferred)
  • Relevant experience in a commercial, not for profit or education environment
  • Demonstrated management/financial reporting experience
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage a small diverse team, bringing the best out in each member
  • Strong written and oral communication skills and the ability to communicate and present accounting concepts clearly
  • Experience in working collaboratively and establishing good working relationships with others
  • Analytical and problem solving skills and the ability to provide detailed and accurate financial and management reports on time
  • Commitment to understand and support the ethos, mission and values of the tradition, philosophy and spirit of St Vincent’s College
