Job Description

The Acting Mission and Formation Director is responsible for working with and supporting the Trustees and the Canonical Stewardship Committee to ensure fulfilment of Mary Aikenhead Ministries strategic mission, formation initiatives and canonical responsibilities. These responsibilities include ongoing faithful articulation, comprehension, communication and integration of the Catholic ethos, mission, values, and culture across the health, aged care, social services, and education ministries.

  • Lead the Mission and Formation function for a large Catholic Public Juridic Person (PJP)
  • Part-time position (7-9 days per fortnight) considered

The Organisation

Mary Aikenhead Ministries (MAM) was established as a Public Juridic Person (PJP) in 2009. MAM
continues the mission of God to love through the healing, teaching, and pastoral ministries of Jesus Christ. Inspired by the spirit of Venerable Mary Aikenhead, through an energetic stewardship, we respond to the needs of the times in innovative ways, especially for the poor, marginalised, and vulnerable.

The Opportunity

The Acting Mission and Formation Director is responsible for working with and supporting the Trustees and the Canonical Stewardship Committee to ensure fulfilment of Mary Aikenhead Ministries strategic mission and formation initiatives and canonical responsibilities. These responsibilities include ongoing faithful articulation, comprehension, communication and integration of the Catholic ethos, mission, values, and culture across the health, aged care, social services, and education ministries. Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, you will work in a small, flat, flexible structure with a strong focus to achieve the ‘Formation in Action’ strategic initiatives of the Trustees of Mary Aikenhead Ministries. This role is a currently a part-time arrangement (9 days per fortnight) but would consider options for the right candidate. Hybrid work arrangements (office and home) can be negotiated. The role will require some national travel.

Key Requirements

Ideally, we are seeking an appointee who is able to:

  • Provide senior leadership for the mission of MAM services and guide the delivery of MAM mission
    objectives and initiatives.
  • Provide advice and guidance to the Chief Executive Officer and the Trustees on effective strategies
    for stewardship and integration of Mission.
  • Maintain the MAM Mission Framework that ensures a clear translation of the MAM Mission, Vision,
    Values, and Catholic identity across all parts of the organisation, incorporating initiatives and
    activities designed to embed our desired culture.
  • Implement Trustee Mission programs.
  • Articulate an understanding of Ignatian Spirituality.
  • Develop and nurture positive, effective, and productive relationships with external stakeholders.
  • Display experience in managing a budget.
