Job Description

  • Lead with purpose.
  • Shape the future.
  • Make a lasting difference.

Mercy Partners is seeking an outstanding leader to become the next Non-Executive Chair of Mercy Community Services Group, one of Queensland’s largest and most respected Catholic community service organisations.

Supporting more than 900 employees, Mercy Community Services Group delivers vital services across aged care, retirement living, home care and community services, touching the lives of thousands of Queenslanders every year. With annual revenue exceeding $100 million and an ambitious strategy for future growth, this is an opportunity to lead an organisation where every decision has a meaningful impact on people and communities.

As Chair, you will work alongside an experienced Board and recently appointed Chief Executive Officer to provide strategic leadership, strengthen governance and champion the organisation’s mission. You will foster a culture of integrity, accountability and innovation while ensuring Mercy Community Services Group continues to deliver exceptional care and services consistent with its Catholic values.

An experienced Board Director or Chair who is an exceptional leader and enjoys bringing people together, encouraging constructive discussion and helping organisations navigate both opportunity and complexity is required to lead the Board. Experience within aged care, community services, healthcare or the not-for-profit sector is essential, together with a strong understanding of contemporary governance and strategic leadership.

Most importantly, you have a genuine respect for the Mission and values of the Sisters of Mercy and an appreciation of the role of Mercy Community Services Group as a ministry of the Catholic Church.

The Board meets approximately ten times each year, together with strategic planning sessions, committee participation and stakeholder engagement, representing an annual commitment of approximately 25 to 30 days. Directors are remunerated with a competitive not-for-profit Board fee, with salary packaging benefits available.

If you are looking for a Board leadership opportunity where your experience can influence strategy, strengthen governance and leave a lasting legacy for Queensland communities, we would welcome the opportunity to speak with you.
