It comprises around 1.1 million Catholics with a wide variety of people, cultures and ministries, providing services and support including pastoral, educational, social welfare, financial and administration services.

About the opportunity  

Reporting to the Senior Operating Officer, the Parish Relations Officer will coordinate and respond to enquiries from clergy, parishoners and the community in a professional and effective manner that will strengthen relationships and streamline processes.

This is a part-time (0.60FTE), permanent position that has become available due to an internal promotion and offers flexibility, a supportive work environment and dedicated team to collaborate with.

Key Responsibilities of the role

  • Act as a key liaison to coordinate and respond to enquiries from clergy, parishioners and the community.
  • Create well-functioning processes and procedures to enable efficient and effective management of all queries.
  • Identify and implement process improvements.
  • Develop, review and maintain policies and procedures for the Office of the Vicar General.
  • Foster constructive relationships and support skills-building and capability expansion of the Archdiocese to resolve queries at the local level.
  • Provide administrative support to the Vicar General and Senior Operating Officer.

What will ensure your success:

  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including a high ability to build rapport, work collaboratively and demonstrate patience and understanding.
  • Previous experience developing and reviewing policy and procedure documents.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing documents to ensure accuracy and accessibility.
  • Experience with CRM or equivalent systems, including database management, is highly desirable.
  • A sound understanding of the Catholic Church and its structures.
  • High level of integrity, honesty, and confidentiality, with an awareness and appreciation of Catholic Social Teaching.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and with minimum supervision.
