Job Description

St Clement of Rome are seeking a new Parsh School Sacramental Coordinator. The Parish School Sacramental Coordinator plays a pivotal role in fostering unity and collaboration within our Parish community by establishing and maintaining effective communication channels between the Parish and the Parish School Community. This position is dedicated to building bridges, enhancing engagement, and facilitating a sense of belonging within the Parish.

This role collaborates with members of our Parish Team, Parish School and other groups and individuals as needed.

The aim is to support Priest by identifying and addressing the needs to build a parish community committed to evangelisation and mission: bringing people to Christ and the Gospel to the world.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

    • Engage the active community, the inactive community and the unchurched in the parish region to build relationships with and invite these individuals into our community more fully and ultimately into a relationship with Jesus. (Evangelii Gaudium)
    • Serve as a liaison between the Parish and the local parish school(s), ensuring seamless communication and collaboration, ensuring transparency and alignment.
    • Provide pastoral support to students and families within the school community, connecting them with relevant Parish resources. Teaching and preparing children for First Reconciliation, First Communion and Confirmation.
    • Recruitment and Coordination of volunteer catechists as required
    • Attending planning meetings with Parish Priest and School staff, assisting with planning and running of retreat held for Communion and Confirmation.
    • Actively support the Parish Priest with the Sacramental Program, key objective of ensuring efficient and seamless coordination with a strong pastoral focus in the parish
    • Preparation of correspondence, maintenance of records, receiving telephone calls and enquiries relating to Sacraments.
    • Develop and maintain sound working relationships with the school staff, parents and children.
    • Identify and develop collaborative initiatives that mutually benefit the school and Parish, fostering a harmonious relationship.
    • Provide support to the Parish Priest in preparation for Feast Day’s and Church Celebrations.
    • Active involvement with attendance at celebrations & liturgy for the sacraments, these may include weekday evening and weekend attendance.

SKILLS FOR SUCCESS

  • A missionary disciple with the resolve and confidence to develop an evangelising culture.
  • Sound understanding of theology
  • Understanding of liturgy and liturgy preparation
  • An understanding of the cultural challenges impacting the faith of youth and young families, as well as knowledge or experience in ways to address these challenges.
  • Ability to relate to a variety of people & develop sound working relationships, work with a spirit of generosity and achieve in a team environment
  • Understanding of Safeguarding Children and Vulnerable people in our Parishes
  • Must be flexible in working days and hours; weekend work will be required as needed.
  • Ability to interact well with many people.
  • Assess, plan and implement programs in a timely manner.
  • Must be proficient in computer programs (Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.) and traditional and innovative communication technology; willing to learn new software and programs.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • Valid Working with Children Check
  • Police Check
  • Annual acknowledgement of the expectations and responsibilities outlined in the Safeguarding Children and Young People Code of Conduct.
  • Successful completion of the Catholic Archdiocese of Melbourne’s Safeguarding Essentials online training module annually.
