About us

BlendED National is a new and exciting initiative of Edmund Rice Education Australia (EREA), providing flexible, inclusive education for young people across the country who are unable to access traditional schooling.

Delivered online by a multidisciplinary team, BlendED National supports young people through trauma-informed, relationship-based learning that prioritises safety, connection, and individualised support. The program is designed to meet the needs of young people experiencing complex barriers to education, and is grounded in EREA’s commitment to educational equity and radical inclusion.

Our Young People

Young people come from diverse backgrounds and often face a significant and complex range of educational, social, developmental, environmental, psychological, health, legal barriers to learning which require unique interventions. Our approach is grounded in the Operation By Principles framework, which combines education with an understanding of trauma-informed practices.

Our Team

BlendED National is expanding, with our second school opening in Queensland with offices based in Brisbane and Cairns. We are building a newly established team including a Principal, Program Directors, Teachers, Youth Workers, and Learning Support Officers across the state. Together, this team will deliver innovative online education to young people who require flexible and supportive learning pathways.

The Role

We are seeking an exceptional and visionary Principal to lead the establishment of our new online school in Queensland. Reporting to the Director – New Initiatives, the inaugural Principal will guide the development, operations, and culture of the school within a complex and evolving environment.

This leadership role will be pivotal in expanding educational access for vulnerable young people across Queensland.

Employment: Fixed-term contract for 5 years, with opportunity for extension depending on performance
Commencement: ASAP, 2026
Salary: This role is classified under the School Leaders – Principal stream of the Catholic Employers Single Enterprise Collective Agreement – Religious Institute and Diocesan Schools of Queensland 2023–2026 (EB10). The salary will fall within the Principal classification range applicable under EB10, commensurate with the successful applicant’s experience and qualifications.

You will need

• Commitment to working within our Operating Principles: Respect, Participation, Safe and Legal, and Honesty
• Tertiary qualification in Education
• Postgraduate qualifications in Education, Leadership, Religious Education, Theology, or a related discipline (highly regarded)
• Minimum of five years’ teaching experience in a Catholic school and/or Special Assistance School
• Demonstrated experience in a senior leadership role (e.g., Principal, Deputy Principal, Head of Campus, CEO Senior Officer) across more than one educational setting
• Current Queensland Teacher Registration
• A current police check (less than 6 months old), or the ability to obtain
