The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Brisbane is seeking an exceptional leader to serve as Vicar for Health, providing canonical advice and leadership to support the Archbishop’s engagement with Catholic health and aged care ministries across the Archdiocese.

Where appropriate, the Vicar for Health will represent the Archbishop providing trusted advice on mission, governance, public policy and emerging healthcare issues. The role works to strengthen collaboration, promote Catholic identity and help shape the future direction of Catholic health services within an increasingly complex regulatory and service environment.

This is not an operational leadership role. Rather, it provides ecclesial leadership, advocacy and canonical oversight in support of the Archbishop’s responsibilities relating to Catholic healthcare ministries.

Reporting to the Chief of Staff, the Vicar works closely with the Archbishop, Vicar General, Council of Vicars and senior leaders across Catholic health and aged care organisations.

Initial Appointment
The initial appointment is a fixed-term 18-month engagement of approximately one day per week, focused on extensive consultation and relationship building with invested stakeholders, scoping and further differentiating responsibilities, and designing future governance and operating arrangements for the health portfolio.

About you
You will bring:

• Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing capability across boards, government, Church and community environments.
• Expertise in healthcare governance, policy, funding and regulatory frameworks.
• Experience providing advice in complex and highly regulated environments.
• A demonstrated understanding of Catholic theology, ecclesiology and mission.
• Sound judgement, credibility, integrity and a collaborative leadership style.
