People can pledge to pray for Pope Leo XIV on the OSV News website (OSV News)

Pope Leo XIV will celebrate his 70th birthday on Sunday, September 14, and to mark this occasion, Catholics are invited to contribute to a spiritual bouquet and pray for the Pope and his intentions. Source: OSV News.

The spiritual bouquet is being organised by US-based Catholic media outlet, OSV News.

“One of the most important things that we can do as Catholics is pray for the Pope and for his intentions,” Gretchen Crowe, editor-in-chief of OSV News, said.

“The modern Petrine ministry is one of the most challenging roles in the world. As Pope Leo XIV prepares to celebrate this special birthday, we want him to be surrounded by prayer, and we hope everyone will participate in this special effort.”

Making spiritual bouquets is a time-honoured devotion that can take many forms. Often, an individual or group of people will offer prayers and sacrifices on behalf of someone or something.

The collected prayers might be listed in a card or accompanied by flowers. They are typically given on a special occasion, such as a birthday or anniversary, or when the recipient is facing some sort of hardship.
