Bishop George Kolodziej SDS has announced the assembly will take place from July 30 to August 1 (Bunbury Diocese)

Bishop George Kolodziej SDS has launched Bunbury Diocese’s journey toward its first Diocesan Assembly, scheduled for July 30 to August 1.

Bishop Kolodziej announced the assembly yesterday, which was the first anniversary of his episcopal ordination for the Bunbury Diocese.

In January, Bishop Kolodziej penned his first pastoral letter, which focused on the theme “Connected in Christ, Walking Together as One”.

The planned Diocesan Assembly will be anchored on this theme.

Bishop Kolodziej called all of Bunbury’s priests, religious and lay faithful to join the “new conversations.”

“I have called on for this assembly because I want to listen to the voice of the people of God in our diocese,” Bishop Kolodziej said.

The journey toward and beyond the First Diocesan Assembly has six phases:

  1. The announcement and launch of the assembly yesterday.
  2. Parish facilitators’ training in April and May.
  3. “Parish conversations” in June, wherein parishioners will be called to share their life and faith experiences.
  4. The Diocesan Assembly, July 30-August 1. This will be attended by the bishop, priests, religious, parish and school representatives.
  5. The review of the assembly report in the parishes.
  6. The presentation of the Diocesan Pastoral Plan as “sweet fruit” of the assembly.

Bishop Kolodziej has also formed a Diocesan Synodal Team, led by Bunbury Diocese’s chancellor, Kerrie Merritt, and vicar-general, Fr Pierreangelo Repuyan VG.
