Fr David Ranson is the first guest on the Around the Bay podcast (Broken Bay Diocese)

Broken Bay Diocese has launched its own podcast, Around the Bay, as it strives to bring the Good News to all through a variety of digital and print mediums.

The podcast will feature interviews with people in and around the diocese, including clergy, laity and religious, talking about their journeys of faith, areas of ministry and issues pertinent to the People of God in the diocese.

There will also be conversations with educational leaders, people from business, politics, charities and volunteers.

There will be a new audio-visual podcast episode and YouTube interview every 3-4 weeks.

The diocese is also launching a new monthly newsletter, BBHighlights, featuring news and events in the diocese and the wider Church.

“I am very pleased to launch this exciting new series highlighting the wonderful people of our diocese, and I express my warm gratitude to our Media and Communications Broken Bay team both for the initiative and the expertise in bringing it about,” Diocesan Administrator Fr David Ranson said.

“May the encounters represented by the series share the story of our diocese in a fresh and creative way.”

Around the Bay is recorded in a specially designed podcast studio within the Caroline Chisolm Centre at Pennant Hills.

The podcast forms part of a renewed digital media strategy for the diocese, which strives to spread the Good News in new and innovative ways, through videos, podcasts, social media, websites, newsletters and other digital offerings.

Fr Ranson will be the guest on the first episode of Around the Bay, discussing his role as Diocesan Administrator, his journey from Tasmania and his time as a Cistercian monk at Tarrawarra Abbey, to the Broken Bay Diocese.

He will also talk about life as a parish priest, looking after the largest parish in the diocese at Chatswood, providing insight into parish life and what is drawing people to the Church in the 21st century, along with reflecting on some of his greatest influences, what motivates him as a priest as well as the major current issues of social media and generative AI.

The first episode of Around the Bay is available today on YouTube and video and audio on Spotify.
