Applications are open for the Areté Centre 2025 Foundations of Missionary Leadership program, which is designed to form and equip laypeople for the mission of the Church, contribute to the renewal of parishes, and evangelise others.
Participants will have the opportunity to discover and use their gifts to build up the kingdom of God in whatever setting they are in.
In 2025, the program will celebrate its sixth year of student intakes.
More than 200 laypeople from NSW, Victoria, Queensland, South Australia and New Zealand have undertaken this transformative journey of faith and formation.
Many graduates have become influential ministry leaders, holding roles within the Sydney Archdiocese, Australian Catholic University, Sydney Catholic Schools and various local parish and ministry settings.
Andrew Condoleon, a graduate of the 2023 program and parishioner at St Kevin’s Eastwood, said participating in the program gave him “a refreshing sense of courage to step into ministry.”
“The most significant breakthrough I’ve experienced is developing a deeper love and reliance on the Holy Spirit,” Mr Condoleon said.
Fr Chris Ryan MGL, who leads the program, said it “goes beyond academics”.
“It is also a journey of the heart that offers personal and spiritual growth. Students are equipped to be both disciples and leaders in the Church’s evangelising mission,” Fr Ryan said.
