Brisbane Catholic Education has announced two significant construction projects valued at nearly $75 million, unveiling plans for a new private college at Flagstone in Logan and extensions to an existing school at Fitzgibbon. Source: The Courier-Mail.
Both projects, expected to be completed by the end of 2026, represent a substantial investment in educational infrastructure in both regions.
Expressions of interest were advertised this week for qualified and experienced providers to submit tenders.
The largest project, a new school to be called St Bonaventure’s College Flagstone, would cost up to $55 million for stage 1 alone.
It would be the area’s first Catholic school and cater for 1800 students from Prep to Year 12.
Greater Flagstone is in the Logan growth corridor, 45km southwest of the Brisbane CBD.
There were about 12,000 homes planned to be built by 2047.
The school was to have opened last year but the plans had to go through four stages of approval including the Church, the Non State School Accreditation Board, the federal Government for funding and Logan City Council, delaying plans.
The Catholic project at Flagstone Drive would include four new buildings, including a student hub, a multipurpose hall, early years general learning block and middle years general learning block.
The second project was for the expansion and renovation of Holy Spirit College on Beams Road, Fitzgibbon in Brisbane’s north.
The stage-three project, valued between $20 million and $27 million, included three new buildings and the extension and refurbishment of existing structures.
Brisbane Catholic Education oversees about 146 primary and secondary schools across the state with more than 77,000 students.
