Alma Cottage at Mary MacKillop Place, where feast day celebrations will take place (Sisters of Saint Joseph)

Mary MacKillop Place, the Sisters of Saint Joseph and Mary MacKillop Today are inviting people to celebrate the feast day of Saint Mary of the Cross MacKillop on Thursday, August 8.

Celebrations will take place at Mary MacKillop Place in North Sydney.

“Mary MacKillop Place is a sacred site unlike any other because Mary lived, died and is buried here,” says Sr Monica Cavanagh, congregational leader of the Sisters of Saint Joseph.

“This year we are delighted to offer an evening Mass at 6pm for those unable to visit during the day. The 10am Mass will also be livestreamed so all can join in on this special occasion.

“There will be free admission to the museum to explore the story of Mary MacKillop and the foundation of the Sisters of Saint Joseph, light meals will be on sale, plus the chapel, gift shop and café will be open for extended hours.”

Mary MacKillop Place and Mary MacKillop Today have each prepared resources for schools and parishes in preparation for the feast day.

These include prayers and reflections, a downloadable commemorative feast day prayer card, fundraising ideas, feast day poster and a PowerPoint presentation

For details of the feast day, visit the Mary MacKillop Place website.

School and parish resources are available from Mary MacKillop Place and Mary Mackillop Today.
